Q: What equipment do I need to start a Podcast?

A: An external Microphone! This is your most important piece of equipment and good ones range in price from $40 to $300. If you are just getting started, a $30-$50 is fine, you can always upgrade after you launch. Please do not use the embedded mic in your computer, laptop, or camera. They are pulling ALL sounds in the environment, not focused on just your voice like XLR mics do.

I use the Samsung Q2U Microphone. I list several microphone options, all of which are the best reviewed available on my Podcast Equipment List.

Q: What do I need to set up my Podcast with a Podcast Hosting Platform?

A: In order to set up your Podcast on a Podcast Hosting Platform like Buzzsprout or RSS.com you need the following:

  1. Your Podcast Name

  2. Your Podcast Description

  3. Your Podcast Cover Art

  4. 1 piece of content, my recommendation is a Podcast Trailer 1 minute or less in length.
